From “petrolatum-free jelly” to natural petroleum jelly: the evolution of a botanical ointment from Maxalli

When we launched our first multi-purpose ointment at Maxalli, we called it “petrolatum-free jelly”. We wanted to make it very clear that it had nothing to do with the typical petroleum jelly that many people still apply to their lips, elbows, or tattoos. But although the name was true to our vision, we quickly noticed something: many people were confused.

Some thought it was an edible jelly (jam). Others didn't understand if it was for skin or hair. And although our most curious customers loved it, we knew that we needed a clearer, more direct, and easier-to-search name.

This is how our petrolatum-free jelly evolved into what it is today: Maxalli's Natural Petroleum Jelly, a botanical ointment without petroleum derivatives, fragrance-free, dye-free, and with 100% plant-based ingredients.

What does Maxalli's natural petroleum jelly contain?

Each ingredient was chosen for its real functionality:
