Does a vegan deodorant really work?
More and more people are looking for formulas without animal-derived ingredients or harsh chemicals like aluminum or synthetic fragrances. But not all natural deodorants are created equal. In this guide, we explain what a truly vegan deodorant is, what ingredients to avoid, and why Maxalli is an effective, ethical, and modern option.

What is a vegan deodorant?

A vegan deodorant is one that is formulated without animal-derived ingredients and has not been tested on animals. Unlike conventional deodorants that often contain harsh chemicals like aluminum, parabens, or synthetic fragrances, vegan deodorants use natural and gentle ingredients that are safe for the skin and respectful of the environment.

At Maxalli, our deodorants are a perfect blend of effectiveness and responsibility. They are made with plant-derived ingredients, such as essential oils, natural butters, and waxes, which neutralize odor and care for the delicate skin of your armpits.

All ingredients are derived and processed from plants such as coconut, castor, RSPO palm, corn, cocoa, rice, and many more. Instead of containing beeswax, we use candelilla wax in our formulas, which is a wax from a plant native to northern Mexico and is also completely sustainable.

Ingredients that a vegan deodorant should NOT contain

  • Beeswax
  • Lanolin
  • Animal fat
  • Glycerin (can be animal-derived)
  • It must also be cruelty-free (no animal testing)

Why do some vegan deodorants not work?

  • Many brands only remove aluminum, but leave alcohol or baking soda.
  • Others do not neutralize bad odors well because they don't use antimicrobials.
  • Some use poorly dosed essential oils that irritate.
At Maxalli, we design each formula with a biodegradable oily base and plant-based antimicrobials like triethyl citrate, without baking soda or alcohol. It works from the first use. Beeswax-free and cruelty-free.
