What Is Vaseline Made Of? Clean Alternatives for Your Skin

de que esta hecha la vaselina

Petroleum jelly is one of the most used products to moisturize skin, protect wounds, relieve chapped lips, and even for hair styling. But few wonder what it's really made of. And the answer might surprise you.

Traditional petroleum jelly —the kind you find in most pharmacies —is made from petrolatum, a by-product of oil refining. Yes, the same oil used for fuel.

What is petrolatum?

Petrolatum (also called paraffin or mineral jelly) is a mixture of hydrocarbons that forms a barrier on the skin. This barrier prevents water loss, but it does not nourish, does not actively moisturize, and does not allow the skin to breathe.

Furthermore, although it is an approved ingredient for cosmetic use, it requires an extreme refinement process to remove potentially harmful impurities. And not all brands do it with the same care.

For people with sensitive skin, babies, or those looking for cleaner products, petrolatum may not be the best option.

Maxalli: a natural petroleum jelly, without petroleum or fragrances

Instead of using petroleum derivatives, at Maxalli we created a natural petroleum jelly made 100% with plant-based ingredients. Our formula hydrates, protects, and softens without blocking the skin or leaving heavy residue.

What does it contain?

  • Cocoa butter: rich in antioxidants, provides nourishment and softness.
  • Castor oil: leaves a glossy finish and protects the skin.
  • Vitamin E: helps regenerate and protect.
  • Dexpanthenol (provitamin B5): hydrates, regenerates and repairs skin and hair

Does not contain:

  • Petrolatum
  • Mineral oil
  • Fragrances
  • Colorants
  • Artificial preservatives

It is ideal for lips, dry nose, hands, tattoos, irritated areas, or sensitive skin.
A real alternative, without petroleum derivatives and unnecessary ingredients.
